How To Lace Those New Discount Hiking Boots
There are different ways in which you can lace modern discount hiking boots and it can make life a little confusing.
1. Eyelets: Eyelets are punched holes which are often reinforced with metal rings to prevent them from tearing out. Even with reinforcement, eyelets tend to tear out under too much pressure and so they are normally only used on lighter shoes today.
2. D-rings: D-rings use a D-shaped ring which is connected to the boot with a metal rivet. They offer greater protection from tearing out than eyelets but they can also create painful pressure points.
3. Hooks: Hooks are quick and simple but are open at the outside which allows the lace to leave the hook altogether. They also have a tendency to ‘catch’ when walking through such things as undergrowth.
4. Webbing: Webbing is simply used to create strong fabric loops through which the laces run.
