Day 32: PPC Advertising–How to Get it Right!
Once again today, moving right along with my “26 Weeks to Freedom” project, I spent a few hours in “class”—revisiting the training videos on Google AdWords that are part of Steve Clayton and Tim Godfrey”s outstanding Commission Blueprint 2.0 program. Of all their excellent products, this is the biggest and most comprehensive yet, covering just about every facet of Internet Marketing. Not only that, but Commission Blueprint also includes several proprietary software programs that greatly simplify such things as profitable keyword selection, article marketing, ad tracking, affiliate website building, and much more. It’s hard to imagine any other program that provides more “bang for the buck” than this one if you are serious about learning how to make money on the Internet.
Anyway, today I was specifically going back over their videos on “PPC” advertising and in particular, how to create profitable Google AdWords ads. As I’ve said before, statistics show that most people who try their luck at AdWords either lose money, break even, or at best show a minimal profit. This is because they simply don’t know how to do it correctly—and it involves a lot more than just being willing to pay more per click than your competitors. In fact, often the advertiser who is paying the most per click is NOT in first position at the top of the page! Several years ago that might have been the case, but now Google has greatly increased its requirements for relevance and quality (both for the ads themselves and the web page where the visitor will be taken after they click the ad). As a result, there’s an interesting formula that Google uses to decide, based on all the factors, what position the ad will occupy on the search results page—and how much the advertiser will be charged—at any given moment (and it’s always changing).
Becoming proficient at using Google AdWords is obviously a cornerstone of the business I want to develop over the next few months. I’ve also learned a great deal about AdWords from Greg Cesar, the ”Adwords Dominator,” who decided a while back to make that his specialized area of expertise. Among other things, Greg has zeroed in on the psychology of search engine visitors (i.e., what kind of keywords or search terms are they most likely to use, and why?) and he’s also constantly on the lookout for new marketing opportunities. He has a knack for, say, looking through magazines or just listening to people around him talking, and then coming up with ideas for new products—or new ways to market existing products. You can check out what Greg has to offer at www.TheAdWordsDominator.com.
