How is my domain name protected by law? Will I still be protected if I’m having a free domain name service?

I am afraid that since it is a free domain service, then the one who register it for me will be able to take it :( Can someone please explain how it works?

If they register it, it’s theirs, unless the agreement says otherwise. Read the agreement carefully when signing up. It will tell you.
