Food Safety Management Systems

ISO 22000 standard for Food Safety Management Systems general requirements are laid out in clause 4.1. In order to comply, an organization needs to establish, document, implement and maintain an effective food safety management system. Clause 4.1 also states the food safety management system needs to be updated, this is normally as and when there are changes that may affect food safety.

The scope of the food safety management system should be clearly defined and specify the products, processes and production sites that are applicable.

Any processes with potential to affect product conformity that are outsourced should remain under control of the organisation. These controls need to be identified and documented within the food safety management system.
