How do you get a .org website? Can you get one from free?
I really want my website that I built on Adobe Dreamweaver CS3 to be a .org website. I have uploaded everything on a good webiste for free, but I really want www.domainname.org

you have to be an actual organization (i.e. livestrong, feed the children) to have a .org. i believe you have to apply with some office or another (government?) to get the . org part but first u have to prove ur a lagit organization

You have to purchase your domain through a domain provider. That way, if you were to start your organization, your website will be available to you and only you. Other companies might already have the domain you’re looking for, so by purchasing one beforehand, your site will be exclusive to your company and no one else can buy the same domain.
Good provider: A good domain provider is http://www.godaddy.com. They have cheap domain names ($2.00 for new customers, $8.00 yearly renewal fee). Their support is awesome and I’m also sure you can point your servers to your domain for free as well. Good luck!

If you want a .org you’ll have to pay for it. On the bright side domains are only about $10. If you really want the .org it really isn’t to much.
