How can I use my username and password inside a domain name?

I have seen my friends put in username and passwords inside domain names for quick login, but I can’t remember the format:

ex. www.domainname.com:username:password

The above doesn’t quite work for me, but how is the above supposed to look? Do you use colons, semicolons, don’t even use .com?

Thanks

You may need a reg hack if you have ie7 or patched ie6

This is a dangerous way to log in. Your user name and password become very public this way, apart from the risk of someone seeing them locally. One of the easiest things to detect for anyone sniffing the network is the address.
