Website hosting and domain registering?
Can I register a domain name on something like GoDaddy but host it with a different company?
Also any recommendations.
Thanks
Yes, you can, although there are a lot of hosting companies that offer a free domain with their hosting.
I recommend one of these: http://www.tophostingpicks.com
iPage has the best offer right now.
Their standard price is $84/year ($6.95) but they have
a 50% sale, one year of hosting for $42.00.
Their plan includes:
Unlimited disk space
Unlimited bandwidth
Free domain name
Price: $42/year ($3.50)
They have one of the most popular hosting platforms, which currently hosts over a million websites. They’re also one of the oldest hosting companies, founded in 1998.
They include a free point & click online site builder so you can create a website without any programming (easily, just by drag and drop).
They also have a great custom control panel with OneClick installs of all the popular software like Wordpress, Joomla, Forums, Chat, Galleries, Online stores and a lot more.

yes you can.. i think godaddy has an expensive hosting prices… so yes you can definitly buy a domain and host it somewhere else.
Also i would suggest you to not buy from godaddy… rather buy domains from namecheap.com and also they have a cheap webhosting than godaddy. They also give free whois protection for a year free and SSL certificate for 1 year free. and the domain price is the cheapest on namecheap.com

As you may know a domain name is just a name, not a real website. If you are going to create your website: 1- Buy a domain name. A domain name is a name you want to call your website (ex: http://www.yahoo.com). To get a domain name, you have to pay an annual fee to a registrar for the right to use that name. 2- Buy a web hosting service to provide your online space and enable you to get your website online at your purchased domain name.
If you want to start your website I recommend purchase your domain and hosting together. In this way it is possible to get your domain for free. Some hosting services offer this gift today.
As an experienced webmaster I recommend BlueHost service which I’m sure it would work for you and fulfill all your requirements. They have a really great offer for hosting & I have used them for over 3 yrs now, and have never had a single problem with them.
You can reach reviews about this web hosting provider and its latest DISCOUNT COUPONS at:

Yes, you can register a domain from most domain companies and then use the "name servers" to point your domain to a different webhosting company.
Do not believe any of the "top 10 webhosts" websites, as they are all scams!
http://hosting-reviews-exposed.com/
Only believe websites with real reviews.
Also, since you are in the market for a webhost and a domain, this host is having a promotion for a free hosting when you buy a domain from them: http://sprucehost.com/freemonth.php
