How to Register Domain Name and Where? What is the cost of registering a Domain Name?
I understand that the first step to create a web site is to have a name for the site. I have several names in my mind. But I do not know where to register the names. I have been told that the registered domain names can be a gold mine, by selling the domain names. But who is the authority which registers the domain names? How much it costs to register a domain name?

You can actually go to several places. One of the most popular on the internet right now is godaddy.com. You have a variety of options at that site as well. My source has a link to it.

I use fxdomains for purchasing all of my domains. Some domains can be sold for a substantial amount if you can find a good one and sit on it for a while. The name will be registered in your name and you are free to transfer or sell it. It costs about $7.75 to register a domain.

Yahoo has a name registry facility somewhere on its site, but I don’t know just where; hunt around. You can Google "domain name registration" for more info.

To have a website you need to a) register a domain which is an anual fee b) subscribe to a web hosting service which is a monthly fee. Some of the better hosting companies will provide you with software to help you build a website. If you go to http://www.dakotawebhosting.com you can register a domain, subscribe for hosting and use the software package called website tonight to build a website.
In addition, you can also pay for website design once you get the domain and hosting for a more professional and customized website.

When registering a domain name you must also look at hosting facilities in case you want to use the names in the future for your own purpose, and its best to do it in bulk. What I have done with http://www.4clickdesigns.com is got a hosting package that allowed me to have multiple domain names, I think that is what you are looking for. Have fun

The prices of the domain name would depend on which registrar you choose to register your domain.
Some of them are:
yahoo.com
godaddy.com
enom.com
namecheap.com
Cheapest is netfirms.com
