http://www.wdbc.com/domain/dotla.cfm#transfers has the cheapest I have seen lately. It used to be you could get em for ten bucks on dreamhost.com, but I think that exorbitant site, www.la, pulled their card and disallowed them.

try 1and1. I think I paid $4.99 for a domain name for a year. And renting the web space isn’t so expensive either.
