Even After FCP7 . . . we still need DVKitchen!

Friday, April 16th, 2010

Allan Tepper, ProVideo Coalition.com, just posted a great article explaining why DV Kitchen is still a necessary tool for the digital video creator even with the latest new features of Final Cut Pro 7

Here’s an excerpt:

“FCP7 brings many welcome exporting/sharing features, but we still need DV Kitchen for the following reasons:

Final Cut Pro 7 fortunately now offers many inboard sharing features which were very weak or non-existent before. Now FCP7 allows us to export to multiple formats and destinations in a single job (called “Back-End Batch Capability” in my DV Kitchen review of March 2009). FCP7 even allows us to export “in the background”, so we can keep on editing if we’d like. Thanks to FCP7’s improved integration with Apple’s Compressor, some of the encoded formats can be published directly to web destinations, whether they be MobileMe, YouTube, or even your own FTP server (after you’ve previously made a preset destination for it in Compressor). These are all welcome improvements, which are directly accessible from FCP7. However, DV Kitchen is still a vital tool (especially if you’re encoding for MobileMe, your own web server… or your client’s web server), because it includes the following unique and must-have features not included in FCP7/FCS3 . . .”

There you have it . . . DV Kitchen, still the best video converter for mac on the planet.

Developing The Greatest Video Games Experience.

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

Those who’re old enough recall the eighties will truly be able to realize just how far video gaming has progressed. Once the only places to obtain thrilling video gaming experiences would have been in amusement arcades, while home players were using a much substandard system.

Today however, considering the never slowing march of technology, the home gaming is simply amazing.

While, it’s been asserted by some, quite well many people feel, that even though sensory experience has developed, the game play wasn’t able to keep pace and that it is really even now at a comparable place.

Currently though, because of technology advancements the home experience is progressing fast. LCD TV’s and audio products as well as exclusively made gaming add-ons are actually creating some thing very exciting to keep folks of all ages absolutely hooked.

A good example of one of these add-ons is the Playseats Evolution Gaming Seat. It’s really a video gaming chair which can be put in to work like an actual racing chair. It can work with the users personal choice of steering wheel and control pedal, and may also be worked by several different gaming systems, which includes Laptops or computers.

The chair is made of top quality leather and is available extremely reasonably. Though, individuals will need to ensure they have sufficient space to set up the Playseats Evolution Gaming Seat before getting one.

This chair as well as all the other accessories are all available on the internet. Just be sure to look through buyer testimonials before going ahead with an order, as a few are not quite as good as they’ll seem.

It’s going to be exciting to see how the home video gaming industry continues to drive growth in it’s drive in the direction of a real life experience. Although, my personal primary wish is that they are able to still press the actual game play experience instead of the things gamers can see and listen to.

To learn more, or to go through reviews and get the best prices on add-ons such as the Playseats Evolution Gaming Seat, just go here.

Windows Vista So Slow!

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

Slow loading speed was a common concern for users of Windows Vista since immediate interaction from their computer, laptop or notebook is often expected. When Windows Vista has been installed and is the primary operating system the computer tends to take a while to load and this is just one in a series of problems that the program has collected. Not all buyers were excited to see the upgrades that Vista offered as they were thought to be superfluous and this created even more bad press for the program. The extra programs that were installed with Vista perhaps should have been forgotten in favor of putting more effort into the main functions of the OS. If the initial program would have been great and easy to use then the extra features would have likely been appreciated but since it did not work well the extras almost seemed like a waste. Most criticisms said likewise.

Let’s Get Progressive

Thursday, April 15th, 2010

“Progressive download” means, as soon as your viewers click to view a particular video, the video starts downloading to a hidden cache file on the users machine.

As soon as enough of the video has downloaded to provide the user with an uninterrupted viewing experience, the video begins playing (as long as it’s set to: autoplay = “true”).

With a video that is encoded at a lower bitrate than the total bandwidth of the connection between the video server and the viewer, the video will start playing within a second or two, and continue without stopping. This is obviously the goal to aspire to for most purposes.

However, you don’t want to encode video with bitrate too low either otherwise the visual quality will suffer - there will be pixelization and blockiness, especially in any areas with motion.

Fortunately, choosing a video bitrate to achieve your goal while retaining visual fidelity is no longer just a matter of luck.

Poe Switches

Sunday, April 11th, 2010

An ethernet switch that has the ability to send power along with data over a network is termed a Power over ethernet Switch. Your end point devices then no longer require their own external power supply. The reduction in cables is usually a good idea as cluttered cables are a housekeeping nightmare.

A power over ethernet switch can be utilised with a range of pieces of equipment like as voice over ip (voip) phones and ip surveillance devices. A poe switch with 96 ports or more is not uncommon in a larger company, but many smaller ones may use a 4 port to twenty four port unit. Whatever the size of your business there is a poe switch to suit your needs.

These extremely useful network accessories can be bought on the internet fairly cheaply for the smaller units. If you are likely to expand your system, always ensure that the unit you buy has some expansion potential built into it.
