I am a foreigner who needs to register domain names, I believe normally one would do this via a domain name registrar from their own country, but internet research tells me for certain domain extension, it is cheaper to register from a registrar from foreign countries, such as USA or UK. For a while, I wanted to register domain names via GoDaddy.com which is an American domain registrar, but in registering, I am asked to input my bank information from a US bank which I do not have.(and I selected to pay via PayPal instead of otherwise), since I do not have one US bank account, at last I gave up registering via GoDaddy, but I still want to give it a try via some reliable UK registrar.
Before doing do, I want to find out if it is ok for my case to register via a UK registar.
Besides, could everybody recommend a few really reliable UK registrars with good reputation.
Thank everybody in advance.
Hi,
The registry operators for domain names in the UK is Nominet. These are the people that basically set the rules on UK domain registrations.
The co.uk SLD is a fully open domain, meaning that anyone in any country can register a co.uk domain. The details are on Nominet’s website: http://www.nominet.org.uk/registrants/aboutdomainnames/sld/co.uk/
Additionally, as far as registrars are concerned, do some Googling on opinions, but these are two favourites:
UKReg (http://www.ukreg.com/)
123Reg (http://www.123-reg.co.uk/)
Hope that helps.

I am looking to create my first website and have a few ideas of how to get a domain name registered, but looking for any tips.
My intention so far is to simply purchase the service from any number of web hosting companies. I don’t need any web hosting space. Is there a better(cheaper/free) way?
I recommend either Godaddy Economy or the Deluxe plan:
http://www.hosttell.com/godaddy/
(prices from $4.74/month - $6.99/month)
Price of a discounted domain with any hosting plan is $2.19
or Dreamhost http://www.dreamhost.com/hosting.html
Their standard price is $9.95/month ($119.40/year)
but you can use the promo code PLUS and get
$50 discount +2 Free domain names.
Disk space: Unlimited
Bandwidth: Unlimited
2 Free domain names
Unlimited domains and subdomains
Price: $5.78/month ($69.40/year)

how do i register a domain name and only use it to redirect to another url/website address, do I still have to pay for hosting in order to do this??? or is there a host that only does this for cheaper, how do i do it and where do i go? thanks
You don’t need to pay for web hosting service. Just register a domain name.
Don’t trust any cheap service, many of them don’t allow you to have full control on your domain name. If you’re going to buy domain names, http://www.goldpuma.com is the lowest cost service which is full-featured and really works for you ($9.99 /year). They offer free extras with every domain name:
Quick Blogcast
Hosting with Web site builder
Personalized Email Account
Starter Web Page For Sale/ Parked Page
Domain Forwarding
Domain Masking
100-Pack Email Forwarding
Total DNS Control
Change of Registration
Status Alerts
Domain Locking
…
Good Luck!
http://www.wealthworld.info/recommends/hostgator.html Hi there. It’s Kit Elliott, Co-Founder of WealthWorld. It’s my job to make sure ociates receive the step by step training, and I’ve created WealthWorld.info as a medium to deliver the training. I understand everyone is at different learning levels so I would like to create step by step training videos for our ociates no matter what level they may be on!
One of the very first steps in MLM companies is registering a domain name and forwarding it to your ociate website. Why is this important? When you advertise your website through email, ppc, magazines, direct mail, postcards, business cards, radio and word of mouth, you want to repeat a domain name that is short, easy to type in, and easy to spell.
This video shows you an easy way to forward a domain name. If you would like to register a domain name, we use Hostgator - http://www.wealthworld.info/recommends/hostgator.html
