What is the cheapest site on which I can register a new domain name? Also what is the cheapest hosting site?

I recommend one of these: http://www.hosttell.com/

Powweb is on a 50% sale - $3.88/month ($46.56/year), and you get a free domain from them.

Godaddy doesn’t offer a free domain, but you can get one for $2.19 if you’re buying hosting from them, plus they also have a 20% sale at the moment. (They don’t advertise it anywhere on their site). Use their coupon code at http://www.hosttell.com/

What website will let me just register a domain name cheaply without charging me for extras I don’t want?

For now, I just want to register a name so no one takes it while I’m developing my website. I don’t need or want hosting and all that other stuff. I also want the cheapest price possible. Which website should I use?

Namecheap is a good domain company.

A purchase comes with free "WhoIs" privacy guard which would cost you an extra $8.99 on GoDaddy

Also includes:
Free Email Forwarding
Free URL Forwarding
A Customizable Parking Page, plus others.

Use the coupon code DREAMTIME for more discounts.

How do I register a domain name w/e-mail address, built a website, and host/upload/run it?

Thursday, October 1st, 2009

I’ve heard people say there are three things: "cheap, fast, good" and you can only have 2 out of the three. I’m willing to put in time learning and building my own site, but I don’t have any knowledge of the technology so I don’t know where to start. I’ve heard peple recommend programs like FLASH for building a website. But, I don’t know where/with whom I should register a domain name, and then where to go from there. Which comes first– domain name, hosting, building? I don’t understand the connection between all of these things, hence, my stagnating confusion.
Please Help!

First of all you dont need a domain name. A domain name is simply a name for your site and is stored in the domain name data base. It IS however, useful for helping people find your website. I would suggest purchasing a domain name after you have your site up and running. Secondly, you need web space. You may find that you already have 10 to 20 megs of space you are already paying for with your Internet Service Provider. It may also have web authoring tools. I think Netscape Navigator still has web authoring tools also. You can also take the hard way and learn html. A page can be written in a program as simple as notepad. There are also tons of web page building software on the market. Most of them have drag and drop capabilities. You can start a page and simply drag pics or text into them and they will do the html for you. Next comes transfering your creation to your web space. If you choose web authoring software, it will most likely come with a built in File Transfer program. This is called FTP. You can also download FTP software for free. It is also possible that your provider has this feature. Okay now, get your space, create your page, upload it! Done deal….now that you have your page up you may want that domain name which gives your site a little class! Domain names can be purchased for as little as three dollars a year now! When you are done let me know where your page is so I can check it out! Good Luck to you! If you have any questions feel free to im or email me.

I would recommend registering with JordanSoft, http://www.JordanSoft.com; it is a Wild West Domain reseller similar to GoDaddy. This reseller is cheaper than GoDaddy for most of the same products. Buying from http://www.JordanSoft.com or GoDaddy makes no difference in service, but you can compare prices to save you a few bucks.

For Domain Name registration:

.COM: $9.99/year on GoDaddy, $7.99/year on http://www.JordanSoft.com

.NET: $12.99/year on GoDaddy, $6.49/year on http://www.JordanSoft.com

.ORG: $14.99/year on GoDaddy, $7.99/year on http://www.JordanSoft.com

And you will have everything you need to get started online for free, you get the following with every domain:

. Free Personalized E-Mail Account: Free Fraud, spam and virus protected email that includes 1 GB of total storage

. Free Ad-Supported Hosting: Reliable and backed by 24/7 support, includes 10 GB of Disk Space, 150 GB of Transfer, Windows or Linux, FTP Access, and much more.

. Total DNS Control

. Free Forwarding/Masking

. Free Photo Album

. Free Blog
