Where can I buy a domain name for my soon-to-be new website for cheap?

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

I’ve heard of people buying domain names for about 2 dollars.
Oh, and I’ve already purchased web hosting.

You can register .info domains for $1.99 and .com domains for $7.49 at TheRegistrar.net and your domain registration comes with an easy-to-use domain management control for moving your domain over to your webhosting service nameservers (or away from them again!)

What’s a good cheap domain registrar?

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

Yahoo apparently is raising their cost to $35 per year for domain name registration. Are there any registrars I can transfer to who charge $10 (or less) per year? Thanks.

Don’t trust any cheap service, many of them don’t allow you to have full control on your domain name. If you’re going to buy domain names, http://www.goldpuma.com is the lowest cost service which is full-featured and really works for you. ($9.99) They offer free extras with every domain name:

Quick Blogcast
Hosting with Web site builder
Personalized Email Account
Starter Web Page For Sale/ Parked Page
Domain Forwarding
Domain Masking
100-Pack Email Forwarding
Total DNS Control
Change of Registration
Status Alerts
Domain Locking

They have a really great offer & I have used them for over 3 yrs now, and have never had a single problem with them.

does anyone know how to register a domain free of cost?

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

Hi

need a domain free of cost registration no need any more space and all just for register .. plz help :)
If you want a top level domain that’s handled by ICANN (.com, etc.) it’s not free, so you can’t get one for free. If you con’t care what it is, use dyndns.com or noip.com.

What is the best and cheapest way to register a domain name and buy a website?

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

There are so many different sites that offer registering domain names and website building but some are oddly cheap and some are off-the-wall expensive. I am looking for answers from people who have actually done this before. Thanks!

Well, what you do is purchase a a domain name and buy hosting. The website part is up to you to design/make/fill with content.

What I do is buy all my domain names from godaddy.com (I always use a coupon when checking out and get either 1.95 domain names or 3 bucks off).

I then have serveral hosts (these are the companies that actually store the files for my websites, and serve my pages). The cheapest I use is dreamhost.com. I also use mediatemple.com (very expensive).

Domain Names?

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

I checked with whois.com and saw that my domain name is already expired I don’t want to renew with my current registrar because they are overpriced, how come I can’t register/renew my domain name with other registrars if it is already expired?

Also is it possible to register my domain name with 1 company and have it hosted by another company?? because I want to go with the company that offers the cheapest domain name registration fees and those that offer the cheapest hosting fees

Is it possible to come up with my own domain name registration and web hosting site (not a reseller)

If I have intermediate knowledge in computer (I am not a computer programmer) - can I be a web host reseller? I understand the business concept but if technical problems arises I wouldn’t know how to solve it.

If your domain name is in the expiration process you can not transfer registrars. This is an ICANN rule not the registrars. If you want the name renew it as quickly as possible before it completes the expiration process and becomes available for anyone to register.

After you have renewed the name you can transfer it to any registrar you want.

Yes it is possible and very common to register your domain name with one company and have it hosted by another.

To establish your own domain name registration and web hosting site (not a reseller) is possible however it would be very expensive.

To become a reseller is easy and requires no technical knowledge, the company you are selling for will provide all the customer service and tech support. You are basically promoting their products and services and receiving a commission on sales.

How do you find the hosting server of a website if you have the Registrar name?

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

I didn’t set this website up, and at the same time, my client cant seem to remember the hosting server he used. I was able to find the registrar in which the domain name was registered, but no information about where the website is being accessed from. Sure I could rout the DNS to the new hosting company, but then he’d be paying hosting across two servers! How do I find the hosting company of this domain name?

There are tons of web hosting companies out there. There are some who’ll give you a free domain and templates as part of the hosting plan but which is the best currently?

Definitely blogger. (blogger.com)
It helps you with sometimes-difficult tech-y stuff, like putting youtube videos on your page. However, you have to pay to have your own "dot-com". The URL you get is always *something*.blogspot.com if you don’t pay.

How can I remote desktop into another computer on my network?

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

I have two servers at home and one of my domains i just remote desktop into using domainname.com then UN: and PW: how can I set something up to be able remote desktop into my other computer. I have a nother domain i own. domainname2.com I would like to use that is that possible.

well the real easy way is to use www.logmein.com
I use that for my customers and for all my comptuers and my one server I have its secure.

Or you can use RDP through windows and in order to use it on a work station it has to have xp pro and for server you would need to use 2003 and at least one clinet access license.
and to use rdp you need to open port 3389

But log me in is great

If you are looking to run your domain through your own server you can use 2 sites that are great one of wich is www.no-ip.org and the other is www.opendns.com

I use both of those for some of my customers as well

Well hope this helps take care.
